Geography

The Fraser Coast Region is located approximately 250kms north of Brisbane with three urban centres, Hervey Bay, Maryborough and Tiaro. The 7 100 square kilometre landscape includes many townships and comprises of rural, residential, commercial and industry land use.The region extends south to the Gunalda Range, north of Howard, east to Fraser Island and as far west as Biggenden. The Fraser Coast traditional owners are the Butchulla tribe with European settlement dates from the 1840’s.
