Fraser Coast Jobs Expo 

Jobs Fraser Coast co-branded with Fraser Coast Regional Council to host the Fraser Coast Jobs Expo in Maryborough on October 23.

The event attracted 20 exhibitors were invited to showcase current job vacancies. The Jobs Expo also saw industry presentations from current and upcoming major future employers – Forest Wind Project, Defence Recruitment and Rheinmetall-NIOA munitions.

Due to the current demand for employers within the workforce, jobs were advertised on behalf of businesses that were unable to be present at the Jobs Expo due to COVID-19 restrictions.

More than 200 jobs were displayed and ranged from community support officers, bar and kitchen staff, traineeships and apprenticeships across many industries, jobs in construction, availability within the agriculture sector and positions within the education sector to name a few. These jobs ranged from entry-level positions to vacancies that required skills and experience.

Currently, the unemployment rate for the Wide Bay Burnett region is at 11.9% which is 5% higher than the national average. Youth Unemployment is sitting at a staggering 27.9% in comparison to the national rate of 14.5%. These statistics prove that this event was vital to supporting both employers and jobseekers within the region.
